Business Case Tool 4.0

2nd Edition of the Business Case Challenge

With this initiative, the Business Case Institute and its partners challenge college students and finalists to learn about the Business Case Methodology (BCBOK® Guide) and the Business Case Toolkit, that have been gradually recognized by business managers as key tools for businesses sustainability.
The competition comprises a learning program where problem solving techniques, communication strategies and several types of analysis and estimation techniques will be addressed.

The 2nd edition of the Business Case Challenge is composed by 2 rounds.

The 1st round will be held with 8 universities (Nova SBE, Católica-Lisbon SBE, IST, ISEG, UAL, ISG, Lusófona and ISCTE-IUL), with teams of four elements.
It will start with a morning workshop concerning the Business Case Methodology and during the afternoon period, the participants will have to solve a Business Case, according to the BCBOK® and present it in a 5 minutes pitch. The winners of each round (each university) will compete in the Grand Final on November 11.

The members of the 8 winning teams of the 1st round will receive a training course in “Management Consulting”, valued on € 1.000,00, provided by Winning Scientific Management.

The 2nd round will gather the 8 winning teams of the 1st round, and will start with a more in depth workshop, where the students will learn advanced features of the Business Case Methodology. In the afternoon period, the participants will have to solve a Business Case, according to the BCBOK® and present it in a 5 minutes pitch.

The winning team of the Grand Final will get the Business Case Challenge Award, with a prize of a Business Case Analyst certification (BCA ®) for each member, provided by the Business Case Institute.

The 1st Winning Competition - The Business Case Challenge

On the 30th April it was the Grand Final of the The 1st Winning Competition - The Business Case Challenge.

This competition took place in 5 universities. The final WINNING TEAM was the Storytellers team from Catholic Business School.

The Business Case Institute was born from a partnership between Winning Scientific Management, MOVE and the Business Case Institute.
This event aimed to teach and prepare university students on how to make a decision regarding projects investments in an enterprise environment, with which may have contact during their professional careers.


With this initiative, the Business Case Institute and its partners aimed college students and finalists to learn about the Business Case Metholodogy (BCBOK®) and the Business Case Toolkit, that have been gradually recognized by business managers as key tools for businesses sustainability.


The first round started with a morning workshop concerning the Business Case Methodology and during the afternoon period the participants had to solve a case study, according to the BCBOK® and present it in a 7 minutes pitch. The winners of each round (each university) competed in the Grand Final on April 30.


During the 1st round the 5 winning teams received a training course valued on 1000€ in “Business Case Foundations” supplied by Winning Scientific Management. The prize for the winning team of the Grand Final was a paid internship at WINNING and a training certification provided by the Business Case Institute.

The Business Case Challenge continues .. On the 12th of March Round I of the Business Case Challenge was in Instituto Superior Técnico.

The day started with a morning workshop, held by Carlos Jerónimo, Partner of WINNING Scientific Management, regarding Business Cases best practices and the methodology (based on BCBOK®). The main goal is to provide all participants some knowledge on how to perform a business case, to better prepare them for the afternoon challenge.

Católica-Lisbon SBE & The Business Case Challenge

The Business Case Challenge continues .. On the 27th of April Round I of the Business Case Challenge was in Católica-Lisbon SBE.

The day started with a morning workshop, held by Cláudia Teixeira, CEO of BCI, regarding Business Cases best practices and the methodology (based on BCBOK®). The main goal is to provide all participants some knowledge on how to perform a business case, to better prepare them for the afternoon challenge.

NOVA SBE: The Business Case Challenge

The 1st Round of “The Business Case Challenge” sponsored by the Business Case Institute in partnership with Winning Scientific Management and MOVE took place at NOVA SBE on Saturday, February 13.

Over 60 students from NOVA SBE participated in this initiative which consisted in the development of a business case. The Business Case Institute wants to congratulate all the participants for the time and effort put in the challenge, and also for contributing for association MOVE social causes in Africa.

Post Scriptum is the Winning team from NOVA SBE challenge which will be competing at the Grand Final on the 30th April.
